Commissions

I do all sorts of commissions, from baby quilts to bed quilts to clothing (though generally only in person) to laptop cases to purses. If you're interested in commissioning something, get in touch with me using this handy form.

I'm also available as a blog consultant.

Charity Quilting

The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative--Priority Alzheimer's:

The AAQI is an excellent program which allows quilters to raise money for Alzheimer's research through submitting mini-art quilts for auction. The cause is particularly near to my heart since my grandfather died of complications of senile dementia.

Quilts for Comfort:

Quilts for Comfort is particularly local to Northern Delaware, where I used to live. They serve hospitals in DE, PA, and MD, providing quilts for preemies, at-risk babies, cancer patients, etc. Great bunch of ladies and a great idea for quilters to start up anywhere.

Very exciting!

I’ve gotten pictures of my favorite iPod case so far and uploaded to them to Etsy. I love it because it’s the first mixed-media design. That is, it incorporates beading, embroidery (a little) and ribbon!

I saw something similar in a book and when I got the fabric, I realized I had all the right materials. I even made two. I would have made more, but I didn’t think they’d all sell and didn’t know what I’d do with them all. So very shiny, pretty, happy!  (Listing)

More iPod cases uploaded to Etsy!

I’m much happier with these ones. I only just finished the blue and lilac one tonight, so it won’t be uploaded until after I’ve taken pictures tomorrow. But here’s a few more for your enjoyment:

This one’s my favorite of the current batch. I love the way the batik makes the wings all a bit different. I also think I got the wing shapes better than last time. (Listing)

I made one of these in the nano size (listing) and one in the normal size (listing). The sparkly, clear fabric and the purple satin fabric were lying beside each other in a remnants bin and I just saw how well they’d work together! It’s not reversible, since the sparkles might scratch the case.

This batik is plain, it’s got nothing exciting going on but it’s nice and simple. :) (listing)

And, last, these red and white cases are made with some fabric I love! They’ve got a simple white lining (but if you want red, you can check out some other cases I have on Etsy). (nano) (normal)

That’s it for tonight! I’m going to post tomorrow about the baby turkey. I just have to blur some faces from the photos, so that people will stay anonymous. :)

Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative Project

In honor of my Dada (grandfather) who died of senile dementia in 2002, I’m working on miniature quilts for the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative project called Priority: Alzheimers.

They take quilts that are 9″ x 12″ or smaller and auction them off online to raise money for Alzheimer’s research.

My goal: To make one miniature quilt for every member of that side of family in 2002 (including Dada). That means 12 quilts. (I’m not counting one cousin by marriage.)

So far, I have 9–plus one I made in honor of a little girl, using the fabric from her Halloween costume. I’ll put that at the bottom–it’s the turkey!

I’ll be presenting these quilts to my Dada’s side of the family after Christmas and then mailing them in to be auctioned off. I’ll post here when that happens!

Crafting blog

While my main blogging is done at MrsMicah.com (Mrs. Micah: Finance and Life), I think that my crafting doesn’t quite fit in there. That is, I hope I’ll be producing a lot of crafts and while I might periodically mention them, I was looking for a more appropriate place to discuss items, commissions, and post lots of pics (when possible).

So here it is: Madeby.MrsMicah.com!

The sidebar already has a link to my Etsy site. I’m planning to configure a contact box for those who’d like to commission pieces. Let me know what you want, I’m open! I primarily accept PayPal, but may be willing to use other methods, just ask. :)

Here’s to crafting and blogging!
