Commissions

I do all sorts of commissions, from baby quilts to bed quilts to clothing (though generally only in person) to laptop cases to purses. If you're interested in commissioning something, get in touch with me using this handy form.

I'm also available as a blog consultant.

Charity Quilting

The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative--Priority Alzheimer's:

The AAQI is an excellent program which allows quilters to raise money for Alzheimer's research through submitting mini-art quilts for auction. The cause is particularly near to my heart since my grandfather died of complications of senile dementia.

Quilts for Comfort:

Quilts for Comfort is particularly local to Northern Delaware, where I used to live. They serve hospitals in DE, PA, and MD, providing quilts for preemies, at-risk babies, cancer patients, etc. Great bunch of ladies and a great idea for quilters to start up anywhere.

Ok, so that was unexpected

I don’t post here often enough, but I found the strangest thing today. I was looking around for purse patterns…I’m collecting them so that it’s easier for me to whip out suggestions to people.

When lo and behold I discover this.

And darnit all, if I hadn’t made something almost the same.

I like her idea of using the square handles, that was a good one. But while I had a picture suggestion I came up with the purse pattern myself. And here I find almost the same pattern online. Oh well, it didn’t take too long to figure out how to do it, it’s fairly simple. But my goodness that was a surprise.

I just finished a lovely laptop case, unfortunately I shipped it without photographing. Perhaps the new owner will take pics and send them to me. :)

Fabric Store Trip Fun!

One of the best parts of taking commissions is the trip to the fabric store! Fabulously Broke contacted me about needing a case for her new MacBook.

So since I had the afternoon free, I ran over to the fabric store to look for some ideas and took pics. Then she’ll pick the fabric. It’s so much fun! I don’t have to worry about how it fits in my budget (though I’m still working with coupons and such to keep down costs for customers). So I get all the fun of buying fabric, working with fabric, and get paid as well.

It’s definitely work and time, but it’s doing something I love…which is the best!

The pattern will be something like this, I think. And I created a little gallery of fabric sample pictures.

Gorgeous, stylish purse

Last week, I made a lovely purse as a commission (so you won’t see it on my Etsy site). I turned it over to the buyer, but I got some pics first and am including them below!

You can’t see it here, but the purse is lined with a light purple. The handles are faux bamboo. It’s also got an inner pocket for all those things a girl might not want free-floating in her purse. It’s going to be a Christmas gift and I really hope the recipient likes it. I developed the pattern myself based on a picture. :)

(photos are a little dark–the flash made the fabric reflect in a funny way)
